Hobo Radio 307 – Snake Plisskened

Joel Murphy’s worst nightmare has come true – he’s been Snake Plisskened. And while he can’t be sure that it was the “Sword of Damocles” that knocked out his cable TV and Internet, he can be sure that his future is looking rather dystopian (at least until Verizon restores his service).

In addition to the outage, Murphy and Lars also discuss the Game of Thrones finale, Jay Leno’s most difficult guests and the real reason bands demand a bowl full of green M&Ms before a show.

What are the chances George R.R. Martin finishes the next book before season five premieres? What does Eddie Murphy demand in his dressing room before an interview? Who does a worse Jay Leno impression? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

Hobo Radio 297 – #CancelHoboRadio

After Stephen Colbert got in all of that trouble on Twitter, you would think Joel Murphy would have learned to be more careful about what he says and does. However, this weekend he had his own moment of what he describes as “accidental racism” when he mistook an Asian guy at a beer festival for a completely different Asian man he met the night before.

In addition to that incident, Murphy and Lars also discuss the Game of Thrones premiere, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s last terrible movie project and a bizarre billboard featuring Ray Liotta’s face.

How do you know when to hug people? Who will be starring alongside Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito in Triplets? Can you pants the chips? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

Hobo Radio 294 – Game of chicken

In a recent issue of Vanity Fair, it was revealed that George R. R. Martin recently had a meeting with the writers of the Game of Thrones television show to discuss where the characters were headed in the event the show gets ahead of Martin, who is still writing the last two books. Joel Murphy and Lars discuss this latest development and the show in general.

They also conduct the Final Four round of the Hobo Madness Tournament, which pits Almost Famous vs. The Master and Caddyshack vs. Ghost Busters.

Will the tournament get as heated as last week? Will George R. R. Martin finish his books before the show catches up? Do they have time for the chimpanzee story? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

Hobo Radio 275 – Baltimore Joe

Coach Finstock in Teen Wolf famously offered up this sage advice as one of his three rules to live by: “Never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city.” The fact of the matter is, having your city get attached to you as a nickname just sounds cool and intimidating. And this week, Joel Murphy ponders what would happen if he was attached that moniker and became “Baltimore Joe.”

Murphy and Lars also discuss brilliant character actors who show up in films and get the job done every time, the wordiness of writers (including Game of Thrones‘ George R.R. Martin) and one of the strangest sex scenes ever put in a mainstream film.

Who would make the perfect Broadway Joe? How do you pronounce Chuck Palahniuk’s name? How great would Malcolm McDowell be in Star Wars? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

Hobo Radio 258 – They’re single, ladies

If you have ever found yourself wondering why Joel Murphy and Lars are still single, no show has epitomized why the dynamic duo continue to live the bachelor life more than this week’s. They start by talking about their struggles with dating and their need to lose weight, then spend the rest of the time kvetching about the Writer’s Guild of America’s Top 101 Television Shows.

From skipping multivitamins to eating crap food, they continue to make bad choices with what they put into their bodies. And they continue to make bad choices in their romantic lives. But none of their choices are as bad as the WGAs television show rankings.

What’s the worst date Joel has ever been on? How does Lars really feel about Six Feet Under? Why does The Wire continue to be undervalued? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.
