Hobo Radio Interview – Fishbowl directors Stephen Kinigopoulos and Alexa Kinigopoulos

From David and Jerry Zucker to Lana and Lilly Wachowski to Joel and Ethan Cohen, Hollywood has had a long and storied tradition of talented sibling directing teams.

Following in that tradition are Stephen and Alexa Kinigopoulos, two Maryland filmmakers whose film Fishbowl looks at teenage life in a small town. Set in the fictional Bishop, Maryland, the film tells the story of three sisters navigating life without their mother and with a father who has becoming increasingly obsessed with the apocalypse.

This week, we talk to the duo about Fishbowl, their favorite films of all time and their mentor George Pelecanos.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • Interstitial – “Vishnu Meets Funk” and “Ancient Ritual” by Lucas Perný & Miloslav Kollar
  • End – “Big Fish” by Cambriana

Hobo Radio 489 – Ted Danson is really good at acting

Subscribe:

This week, Joel Murphy and Lars Periwinkle take a bold stance and declare that Ted Danson, who has worked in Hollywood consistently for decades to great acclaim, is good at acting.

They also discuss Lars recent trip to the Great White North, Fox News’ bizarre attack on actor Geoffrey Owens for having a day job at Trader Joe’s and PETA’s attempts to get the people of Baltimore to stop eating crabs.

What is Old Bay seasoning made of? How many times did Lars go to Tim Hortons on his trip? What does Ethan Hawke have against the movie Logan? The answers to these questions and more are on this week’s show.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • End – “Brown Paper Bag” by Tremendous Athlete

Hobo Radio 394 – Ts and Ds

Joel Murphy and Lars Periwinkle are joined once again by Molly Regan (Joel’s fiancee and the voice you can often hear laughing in the background during shows).

The three of them broadcast live from inside a (supposedly) haunted house. They talk about ghost hunting shows, real scientists who are attempting to create zombies and, for some reason, quite a bit about Lars’ butt.

Why does Ted Cruz love soup so much? Who will Donald Trump name as his running mate? Is “dupa” the most fun word on the planet? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • End – “First of May” by Jonathan Coulton

Hobo Radio 393 – Roy Taff, tall white guy with a beard

Joel Murphy and Lars Periwinkle are joined by improviser Roy Taff, who is currently performing with Joel in the Baltimore Improv Group’s Unscripted.

They talk to Roy about quitting performing after being disheartened during his time in Los Angeles, only to give it another shot back in Baltimore a decade later. The guys also talk about tough conversation they’ll have to have with their future kids, the lost art of dot matrix porn and the power showrunners have in Hollywood today.

Who is Banksy? Why does Joel have a photo of Roy on his phone? What role did the ampersand play in dot matrix porn? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • End – “Devil Woman” by Greg Harrison Band
