Silver Linings Playback 176 – Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

Joel Murphy and Andy McIntyre watch maligned movies and find their silver linings. For October, they are watching horror movies set in cities.

Joel and Andy kick off the “spooky season” by watching Jason Vorhees attempt to do what only the Muppets have done before him … take Manhattan.

[This episode was recorded during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the film being discussed wouldn’t exist.]

Hobo Radio 432 – An unstoppable killing machine

Joel Murphy and Lars Periwinkle are joined by their friends Molly Regan, Andy McIntyre, Erin Fox and Marty McGuire for the fourth annual Hobo Madness tournament.

This year, in honor of Bill Paxton, who squared off against an Alien, Terminator and Predator, and Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla‘s MonsterVerse, they are pitting 16 monsters against each other to crown one ultimate winner. The monsters have been split into two categories – sci-fi and horror – and the match ups have been randomly drawn out of a hat. They are also randomly drawing the location of these battles, using four possible locales – Desert, Snowy Mountain, Island Jungle and Bustling Metropolis.

Does King Kong dream? Does the Predator recognize Arnold Schwarzenegger? Is Jason an unstoppable killing machine? The answers to these questions and more are on this week’s show.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • Interstitial – “… echoes in Eternity” by Laszlo Harsanyi
  • End – “Run Away” by 6 String Opera
