In honor of Halloween, Lars Periwinkle has ghosted the show this week. So Joel Murphy is joined by the hardest working woman in Baltimore, Kim Le.

They talk about Kim’s various projects, including her recent deeply-personal immersive theatre show with The Institute of Visionary History that delved into her family history; an exploration that began with her 2015 HoboTrashcan column “Last Days in Vietnam.” They also discuss the bureaucracy of weddings and funerals and the similarities between Vietnamese death rituals and the film Coco.

Where is Lars? What’s the most Midwestern thing Kim does during the podcast? What are funeral potatoes? The answers to these questions and more are on this week’s show.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • End – “Halloween (Remix)” by The Coffinshakers
