Hobo Radio 432 – An unstoppable killing machine

Joel Murphy and Lars Periwinkle are joined by their friends Molly Regan, Andy McIntyre, Erin Fox and Marty McGuire for the fourth annual Hobo Madness tournament.

This year, in honor of Bill Paxton, who squared off against an Alien, Terminator and Predator, and Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla‘s MonsterVerse, they are pitting 16 monsters against each other to crown one ultimate winner. The monsters have been split into two categories – sci-fi and horror – and the match ups have been randomly drawn out of a hat. They are also randomly drawing the location of these battles, using four possible locales – Desert, Snowy Mountain, Island Jungle and Bustling Metropolis.

Does King Kong dream? Does the Predator recognize Arnold Schwarzenegger? Is Jason an unstoppable killing machine? The answers to these questions and more are on this week’s show.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • Interstitial – “… echoes in Eternity” by Laszlo Harsanyi
  • End – “Run Away” by 6 String Opera

They also do some script doctoring on the Nickelodeon show Shimmer and Shine, discuss two big Doctor Who stories and get absolved of their white guilt by Milly Tamerez.

Why are there so many plotholes in Shimmer and Shine? What is John Hurt’s most memorable role? What’s in a name(‘s pronunciation)? The answers to these questions and more are on this week’s show.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • End – “Hit Em Low” by Jack Bibly

Hobo Radio 420 – What are we even talking about anymore?

Joel Murphy and Lars Periwinkle cover a wide range of topics this week, including the most recent 2016 celebrity deaths, men’s facial hair, Gilmore Girls, TV shows with planned endings, Doctor Who and GMOs.

This eclectic mix of subjects causes Lars Periwinkle to question the nature of Hobo Radio. He even makes a bold offer for anyone who attends their live podcast recording on Dec. 31 in Baltimore to potentially change the show going forward.

What is the point of Hobo Radio? Why do TV show writers insist on having their characters write about the show they are in? Is Lars relatable? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • End – “A Flower In Space” by Starover Blue
