Hobo Radio 325 – Simpsons producer Bill Schultz

From Stan Lee to The Simpsons, Bill Schultz has worked with some of the best in animation. And now he’s collaborating with Dexter creator Jim Manos, Jr. on Jimmy Stones, a crowd-funded animated series about a down-on-his-luck man who talks to animals.

Joel Murphy interviews Schultz about the new show, his time on The Simpsons and his work with Stan Lee on making Marvel animated series. And Murphy and Lars Periwinkle discuss their favorite Simpsons episode and the new Simpsons World app.

What’s the best Simpsons episode of all time? What does being a producer actually entail? Did Phil make it out of the woods? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • Interstitial – “The Ring” and “Butterfly Lament” by Peacock Ball
  • End – “Skullcrusher Mountain” by Jonathan Coulton

Hobo Radio 311 – It’s kind of food

This week, Joel Murphy and Lars fix advertising on television and on streaming video sites. They offer ways to have product placement that isn’t obnoxious and ways to cut down on repetitive ads. They also come up with a new tagline for Subway: “It’s kind of food.”

The dynamic duo also discuss Guardians of the Galaxy, the new Simpsons World app (which will give viewers access to every single episode of The Simpsons) and Fargo season two.

What other shows would you want unlimited access to? Why did Joel get emotional at the Guardians of the Galaxy screening? Is there anything better than Batman Mad Libs? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • End – “The Last Day of Fighting” by Tim Carr
