Hobo Radio 458 – I should have been listening before

Joel Murphy and Lars Periwinkle are joined by Molly Regan. The trio discuss the New York Times article detailing multiple sexual assault allegations against Louis CK and Ridley Scott’s plans to replace Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer in All the Money in the World, which is scheduled to be released next month. They also look at an underreported story about a Hollywood sex cult being led by a former Smallville star.

In lighter news, they discuss Disney’s plans for a new Star Wars trilogy and TV show, the Doctor’s new look on Doctor Who and Matthew McConaughey’s incredibly on-brand Wild Turkey ads.

Beyoncé or Alison Brie? Is the new Doctor a 1970s educational children’s show performer? Will Luke Skywalker ever get those power converters? The answers to these questions and more are on this week’s show.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Royalty Free Style 80’s Synth Music” by RickLan
  • End – “You Can Do It” by Evie Sands

Hobo Radio 293 – Sadness and decay

The Hobo Madness Tournament heats up this week as Joel Murphy and Lars have a lengthy debate over which film should advance to the final four – Groundhog Day or Caddyshack. And that’s just one of four difficult match ups. They also pick winners for Almost Famous vs. Boogie Nights, The Master vs. Mission: Impossible III and Animal House vs. Ghostbusters.

They also discuss the Academy Awards, including the rise of Kevin Spacey, the goofiness of Matthew McConaughey and the possibility that The Wolf of Wall Street is just as important sociologically as 12 Years a Slave.

Who will win in Caddyshack vs. Groundhog Day? Why did we stop using the term “homely”? What surprise does Joel have for Lars? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.
