Hobo Radio 376 – The non sequiturs of their respective genres

When trying to figure out why the Violent Femmes, B-52s and Counting Crows are playing a show together, Lars Periwinkle set a new bar for pretentiousness.

In addition to discussing the new low, he and Joel Murphy also talk about Krampus‘ unexpectedly big opening weekend, Doctor Who going out of its way to silence critics and the impressive, eclectic career of Robert Loggia.

What was the secret to Krampus‘ success? Why aren’t female writers getting hired in Hollywood? Is Hell’s Kitchen the safest place in all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

  • End – “Carol of the Bells” by Hollywood Drunks

Hobo Radio 375 – Molly’s medical treatment

Molly Regan can often be heard in the background of Hobo Radio episodes, giggling at Joel Murphy and Lars Periwinkle’s shenanigans. This week, she’s a proper guest, joining the guys for the entire show.

Unfortunately, it isn’t for the best of reasons. Molly has been dealing with a number of health problems, which resulted in two trips to the ER in the past week. She was admitted the second time, spending two days in the hospital after a migraine left her with facial paralysis. Molly catches everyone else up on the details and talks about the GoFundMe campaign she’s started to help with her medical expenses.

Does Molly have Three Stooges syndrome? Why are all of the doctors and nurses at GBMC so dreamy? Did Lars get pegged? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

Hobo Radio 374 – Your mom is garbage pie

Joel Murphy and Lars Periwinkle are once again joined by friend and HoboTrashcan contributor Fontina Turner, who took time out of her busy schedule preparing Thanksgiving dinner for her extended family.

Fontina discusses her Thanksgiving plans, Lars discusses his family’s cocktail list and Joel explains why he won’t be slathering his turkey in mayonnaise this year. They also talk Star Wars – including George Lucas’ latest ass-hattery – and they do a food-themed MadLibs.

Pecan pie or pumpkin pie? When did Han and Leia first hook up? Why can’t the trio stop insulting each other’s moms? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

Hobo Radio 373 – Everything is terrible, the world sucks, but we’re going to talk about pop culture

As a brief tribute to Paris, Joel Murphy and Lars Periwinkle talk briefly about all the French have given us.

They also try to figure out why it’s so tough for Hollywood to release movies at seasonally-appropriate times (the latest examples being Victor Frankenstein and The Night Before), discuss the cancellation of Kurt Sutter’s Bastard Executioner and look at the recent string of dead-but-presumed-still-alive TV show protagonists.

Are dramas like The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and The Leftovers in danger of making death meaningless on their shows? Was Kurt Sutter really the one who pulled the plug on his own show? Why is Lars no longer wearing deodorant? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

Hobo Radio 372 – The second one is usually better

Joel Murphy and Lars Periwinkle are once again joined by local comedian, Digression Sessions host and lovable bad boy Josh Kuderna.

While Josh and Lars attempt to resolve their issues, the boys also talk about Josh’s stand up career, a Florida business owner’s unique Veteran’s Day celebration and Dave Bautista’s movie career.

Does Bautista already have the greatest film career of any pro wrestler? Can Josh and Lars make peace? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.
