Silver Linings Playback 130 – The Transformers: The Movie (ft. Jonathan Davenport)

Joel Murphy and Andy McIntyre watch maligned movies and find their silver linings. For the month of November, they’ve decided to do what every store does: blast past Thanksgiving to focus instead on the hottest Christmas toys.

Joel and Andy, with special guest Jonathan Davenport, watch the 1986 Transformers film, which features an amazing soundtrack and an absolutely stacked cast.

Theme Song: “Bankin’” by Bronson Scott

Hobo Radio Interview – Niki Lindroth von Bahr

Niki Lindroth von Bahr makes intricate stop-motion animation films with anthropomorphic animal characters trapped in mundane existences. She uses these characters and worlds to explore deeper themes like loneliness and existentialism while making very silly visual jokes along the way. Her films really resonate in these bleak times we find ourselves in.

We recently spoke to Niki about the process of making these highly-detailed films and how they have been received across the globe.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • Interstitial – “Vishnu Meets Funk” and “Ancient Ritual” by Lucas Perný & Miloslav Kollar
  • End – “Early Morning Existential Crisis” by Learning Music
