Hobo Radio Interviews – Kneecap & Writer/Director Rich Peppiatt

The members of the Belfast hip hop group Kneecap had every reason to be skeptical in 2019 when they were approached by someone claiming to be a filmmaker who wanted to tell their story.

Luckily, over many, many pints of Guinness, writer/director Rich Peppiatt was able to talk Moglaí Bap, Mo Chara and DJ Provaí into telling their story in a kinetic, entertaining biopic that hits theaters tomorrow.

We chatted with the band and writer/director about the film, the fight to get Irish recognized as a language in the north of Ireland and the chaotic decision to release a new album and movie simultaneously.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • Interstitial – “Vishnu Meets Funk” and “Ancient Ritual” by Lucas Perný & Miloslav Kollar
