Elizabeth Ito, creator of City of Ghosts

Hobo Radio: A Pop Culture Podcast

Elizabeth Ito has spent more than 15 years working in animation on shows like Adventure Time and her award-winning Cartoon Network short Welcome to My Life.

Her new Netflix show, City of Ghosts, is about a team of adorable young ghost hunters who travel around LA interviewing spirits and learning about the rich history of the city and its eclectic inhabitants. After a rough few years, it is essential comfort viewing.

We interviewed Ito about her career in animation, the development and execution of City of Ghosts and her anxiety about the child actors aging out of their parts.

Remembering Jessica Walter

Hobo Radio: A Pop Culture Podcast

Like all of you, we were heartbroken by the news that legendary actor Jessica Walter passed away. With a career that stretched over six decades, she was known in more recent years for playing two iconic matriarchs, Lucille Bluth on Arrested Development and Mallory Archer on Archer.

In 2016, we talked to her about season seven of Archer, her work on Arrested Development and the similarities between the two mothers she plays on those shows. Today, in honor of her passing, we are reposting the audio.
