Hobo Radio 285 – We were promised hoverboards

As we settle into 2014, Joel Murphy and Lars can’t help but notice that we are just one year away from all of the amazing technological advancements promised to us in Back to the Future II. This week they envision a world full of hoverboards, flying cars and self-lacing shoes.

Also, they discuss the latest round of annoying movie talkers Joel encountered, the made up terms weathermen have begun to use and the bizarre phenomenon of “barely legal” teens.

What new traffic problems will flying cars cause? How tough is it to write a SyFy Original Movie? What are ladies at bachelorette parties drinking out of? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • End – “What Comes Naturally” by BJ Block & Dawn Pemberton

Just yesterday, we brought you Joel Murphy and Lars’ special New Year’s Eve show with their friends Greg and Ethan. The four friends chatted for the hour leading up to 2014, bringing in the new year live on the air. And really, that probably should have been the end of it. But three hours and many beers later, the four guys decided to fire the mics back up for a special late night edition of Hobo Radio.

They decide to use the time to get ahead on their year’s worth of podcast, sharing their thoughts on things that haven’t happened yet. Also, Joel and Ethan attempt to take on Greg in an anime trivia contest, Joel shares a terrifying story and they review Deadspin’s list of things people got stuck inside them over the past year.
