Hobo Radio 262 – Food puns with Fontina Turner

Today is a special day for Joel Murphy and Lars – it’s their five-year anniversary of doing Hobo Radio together. And while they don’t celebrate over a candle-lit dinner, they do get HoboTrashcan’s new food writer Fontina Turner on the show with them to at least talk about making tasty food.

Lars and Fontina also square off in the Netflix Game, Turner opens up about her fear of clowns and the trio talk about networks who try to use hashtags to promote their shows.

Who will win the Netflix game? What’s the traditional five-year anniversary gift? How close to the beginning of Cinderella was Fontina’s childhood? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • End – “Simple Things” by Holly Gentry

Hobo Radio 261 – Now with theme music

This week, Joel Murphy and Lars unveil a new game, one that comes complete with its own theme music. Well, it sort of has its own theme music. In truth, it’s just Murphy humming a few bars to a song he made up on the spot, but its a low budget show, so they are working with what they’ve got. Still, regardless of the theme music, the “Netflix Game” is a fun new concept that you can play along with at home.

In addition to their gaming shenanigans, the dynamic duo also discuss Man of Steel, fireworks and people who claim to have seen ghosts.

What is the Netflix game? Why doesn’t anyone in DC own guns? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

This week’s music:

  • Intro – “Giddy Up” by Tahuna Breaks
  • End – “Funhouse” by She Said Fire

From the Vault – Hobo Radio 138 – Cue the fireworks

[Editor's Note - While Joel Murphy and Lars are getting drunk and blowing shit up, we bring you this classic Fourth of July podcast from 2010 ...]

Today, most Americas will head outside to watch people blow shit up in honor of our victory over England 237 years ago. It’s a strange tradition, but one that all Americans seem to love. In 2010, Joel Murphy and Lars did their best to make sense of this yearly spectacle and also pay tribute to America, albeit somewhat unenthusiastically.

They also discussed Despicable Me‘s strange new gimmick, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World‘s ineffective advertising campaign and Wonder Woman’s boring new costume. Finally, the dynamic duo looked back on one of the earliest Hobo Radio podcasts – the infamous Fourth of July “stripper show” from way back in 2006.

How was the movie industry forever changed in 1994? When exactly does Scott Pilgrim come out? What the hell is Wonder Woman wearing? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.
